Altidore records pair of goals, Alkmaar ties Ajax 2-2.

(Monday, August 13, 2012) -- United States striker Jozy Altidore scored a pair of sensational goals to help AZ Alkmaar to a 2-2 draw with host Ajax Amsterdam in the Dutch Eredivisie in front of a full house ArenA.
After Ajax had taken a halftime lead on an early goal, Altidore took the ball on the left side, raced into the penalty area and let loose a blast that beat the goalkeeper high to the far side.
Just two minutes later, Altidore was on the receiving end of a give-and-go. Closely marked by two defenders, he used hos shoulder to touch the ball to his right, giving himself enough room to blast the ball home.
Altidore came out in the 84th minute, replaced by a defensive midfielder a minute after Ajax had leveled the score at 2-2.
In Sweden, American midfielder Alejandro Bedoya, newly arrived from Scotland and FC Rangers, did not dress dor Helsingborgs IF in its 7-2 victory over Kalmar FF.
In making the move, Bedoya will have a chance at European Champions League play as Helsingborg will meet Rangers' former Glasgow arch-rival Celtic in the final qualification round, starting on August 21.
Rangers, formerly in Scotland's Premier League, were dropped to the fourth tier following its recent bankruptcy
American forward Chad Barrett had a big day for his new Norwegian club Vålerenga, contributing a pair of assists in a 3-1 win over Odd Grenland.
It was his second match with his new team following his loan from Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy.
American defender Michael Parkhurst had a goal and an assist for FC Nordsjællands in a 6-1 rout of Silkeborg in Denmark.
Parkhurst set up the first goal on a through pass from the back in the third minute and scored himself just three minutes later.

American defender Frank Simek, still regaining fitness after returning from injury, dressed, but did not play for Carlisle United of the third-tier League One, which recorded a surprisingly-close 1-0 win over Accrington Stanley of the fourth-division League Two..
American midfielder Robbie Rogers, recovering from last season's broken ankle, did not dress for Leeds United of the second-tier League Championship in an easy 4-0 decision over Shrewsbury Town of League Two.
American striker Robbie Findley did not dress for Nottingham Forest of the League Championship for its 1-0 road victory over League Two's Fleetwood Town tonight.
Media reports say that Forest is interested in selling Findley.
In Germany's second-division 2. Bundesliga, 19-year-old central defender John Anthony Brooks, a German American born and raised in Germany and a product of the Hertha Berlin youth system, went the distance in a 3-1 loss to FSV Frankfurt.
German-American defender-midfielder Alfredo Morales, of Peruvian descent, did not dress for Hertha. The match came a week after Hertha failed to win promotion to the Bundesliga, losing a series to Fortuna Düsseldorf 4-3 on aggregate.
German-American forward Andrew Wooten did not dress for 1. FC Kaiserslautern in its 2-1 decision over VfR Aalen.

In Norway's Tippeligaen, U.S. midfielder Mikkel Diskerud played the final 28 minutes for his new team, Rosenborg, in a 3-0 victory yesterday over Sogndal. He had been released by Stabæk IF.
American Steve Clark was in net for Hønefoss BK in a 2-2 draw with Lillestrom.
Injured American defender Josh Gatt has a pulled leg muscle and not dress for Molde FK, which edged Aalesund 1-0.

U.S. striker Herculez Gomez played the first 55 minutes and was shown a yellow card for Santos Laguna in its 3-0 loss to Leon.
American defender Jonathan Bornstein did not dress for Tigres UANL in a 2-2 draw with Queretaro.
