CONCACAF qualifying Pardo rescues Mexico for 1-1 draw in Trinidad; Jamaica, Honduras tie.PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad & Tobago (Wednesday, April 25, 2001) -- Midfielder Pavel Pardo’s goal in the 61st minute gave Mexico a 1-1 draw with Trinidad & Tobago in a tense CONCACAF World Cup qualifier at the Queen's Park Oval this afternoon.
In today’s other matches, Honduras’ visit to Jamaica also produced a 1-1 tie and the United States took control of the six-nation, final-round group by defeating Costa Rica 1-0 in Kansas City, Mo. Trinidad took a 1-0 lead when defender Marvin Andrews elevated above his opponents to head home Angus Eve’s corner kick in the 14th minute. Eve’s afternoon didn’t last much longer. In the 35th minute, he was sent off, red carded for a foul, ruled deliberate, off the ball. Second-half sub Jesus Arellano set up the equalizer for Pardo who found net from 22 yards.
