Keller scores twice, Addo adds insurance; Mutiny tops Metros 3-0.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (Friday, June 9, 2000) -- Midfielder Josh Keller netted his first two Major League Soccer goals and defender Joe Addo his first, leading the Tampa Bay Mutiny to a 3-0 triumph over the MetroStars before 11,322 at Giants Stadium tonight.

Mutiny goalkeeper Scott Garlick recorded his 17th career shutout.

Keller netted his first career MLS goal in the 11th minute to give the Mutiny a 1-0 lead. Midfielder Steve Ralston, patrolling the right flank, attempted to get the ball to Mamadou Diallo across the box, but fed former MetroStars midfielder Manny Lagos instead. Lagos pushed the ball out to the top of the arc, where Keller was allowed to run onto the ball. Keller's blast blazed past keeper Mike Ammann, finding the lower left corner of the net.

Keller increased the advantage to 2-0 in the 57th minute, hammering a shot past Ammann from 25 yards out. Midfielder Carlos Valderrama took advantage of a disorganized MetroStars defense, still recovering from a Diallo run moments earlier, by pushing the ball out to Keller.

As a member of the Mutiny (8-6, 24 points), Valderrama has recorded an assist in each of 10 career games against the MetroStars (6-7, 18 points). He has 13 this season and extended his current point-scoring streak to six consecutive games.

Lagos notched another assist against his former club in the 88th minute, beating Mike Petke to feed defender Joe Addo, who scored on a left-footed blast from the top of the penalty area.

Diallo's goal-scoring streak ended at five games in a row in the 71st minute of play, when Kevin Anderson replaced him.
