Major League Soccer All 48 players waived go unclaimed.(Wednesday, November 16, 2005) -- Today's Major League Soccer waiver draft took no time at all. On a league-wide teleconference, there were no takers for the 48 players cut by the MLS's 12 teams yesterday. By waiving players, MLS clubs gain flexibility to make offseason acquisitions. The openings will become particularly helpful when world governing body FIFA's international transfer window opens from January 1 to March 31 Each team will retain rights to their waived players within MLS for the next year. Any MLS team that wishes to sign one of these players during that period will need to make a deal with the club that waived him. The deadline for MLS teams to bring their rosters and salary budgets into compliance with league regulations is March 1. On that date, all MLS teams must have rosters of no more than 18 senior players, 10 developmental players and four senior internationals MLS will hold its annual player combine January 12-15 at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. The entry draft will follow January 20 in Philadelphia, held at the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Convention.
