    Virginia comes from behind twice, beats BC 4-3.

    NEWTON, Mass. (Saturday, September 24, 2005) -- Freshman striker Yannick Reyering's second goal came with five minutes remaining and proved to be game-winner as No. 4 Virginia twice overcame deficits to defeat 22nd-ranked Boston College 4-3 before 1,650 at Newton Campus Field tonight.

    Junior forward Adam Cristman had two tying goals for Virginia which scored its final two goals while playing with a man advantage. Sophomore midfielder Chris Tierney had three assists for the Cavaliers.

    "I am very happy with the composure we had tonight under some difficult circumstances," Virginia coach George Gelnovatch said. "We came from behind on two occasions, at 2-0 and 3-2. When things went crazy in the game, I thought we handled the situation better than they did and that was the difference tonight."

    Reyering, who now has five goals on the season, put Virginia (5-1-1, 2-0 in ACC) ahead 4-3 when he headed home made it 4-3 when he headed home a corner kick from Tierney.

    Ten minutes earlier, Cristman evened the score at 3-3, also on an assist from Tierney. .

    BC (4-2-1, 0-1-1) took a 1-0 lead with 7:40 elapsed when sophomore striker Sherron Manswell intercepted a poor U.Va. clearance and scored an unassisted goal.

    The Cavaliers had a prime chance to tie 10 minutes later but Reyering's penalty kick was saved by BC junior goalkeeper Issey Maholo.

    The Eagles extended their advantage to 2-0 when sophomore forward Hadrien Toure was fouled in the U.Va. box and then converted a penalty kick at 39:42.

    Twenty-one seconds before intermission, Reyering was successful on a penalty kick, driving it into the top right corner to bring the Cavaliers to within 2-1.

    U.Va, equalized at 2-2 when Cristman headed in an Tierney free kick at 52:44.

    BC regained the lead at 3-2 on yet another penalty, this one for a hand ball called on Cavaliers junior defender Matt Poole. Freshman midfielder Reuben Ayarna netted the PK at 68:52, but wound up making an early exit when his celebration included taking off his shirt, earning his second yellow card of the match. An Eagles assistant coach had been shown a red card 15 minutes earlier.

    Virginia outshot BC 12-10. Maholo made six saves for the Eagles to two for U.Va. junior keeper Ryan Burke.
