Vicki Anagnostopoulos, who had scored two goals in the first 12 games of her Princeton career, exploded for four goals and also added two assists, powering the Tigers to a pair of easy victories last week. After assisting twice in Tuesday's 3-0 road victory over American, Anagnostopoulos saved her best for Saturday's Ive League meeting with Harvard, finding net four times in the 5-0 rout at home.

In helping Princeton (6-7-1) to its first conference win in five tries, Anagnostopoulos becoming the fourth player in school history to hit that mark and the first since Eleanor Platt accomplished the feat in 1998. Her output helped Princeton to its second-ever shutout of Harvard -- the first came in 1985 -- and the Orange and Black's largest margin of victory in the 27-game series. Her eight points also tied a Princeton record, also last accomplished by Platt in 1998.

Anagnostopoulos put Princeton's ahead for good with 8:04 elapsed, taking a pass from fellow rookie Lauren Thomas and firing home a shot from close range. Her three other strikes came in a peiod of 7:13 early in the second half, including a pair in a 33-second span. In the 49th minute, she took a pass from Diana Matheson and navigated through several defenders into the box before scoring from 10 yards. Thomas picked up her second and thidr assists of the match by setting Anagnostopoulos for tallies at 55:22 and 55:55.

Now with six goals, four assists and 16 points, Anagnostopoulos trails only Matheson (8-5-21) in each category. With two game remaining, Anagnostopoulos kept alive the Tigers' hopes of a 10th straight winning season.

Center back Emily Zurrer keyed an Illinois defense that stifled two of the top four teams in the Big Ten -- Purdue and Indiana -- last weekend, allowing just six combined shots on goal in the two shutout victories at home.

Zurrer's versatillity was on display over the weekend. In a 2-0 victory over Purdue Friday, Zurrer demonstrated her foot skills, stopping the Boilermakers' leading scorer Parrissa Eyorokon and former All-Big Ten selection Jessica Okoroafo on multiple occasions with sliding tackles and stout defense. Zurrer combined with Kara Gostisha, her mate in the middle, to tackle Okoroafo just above the penalty area without being whistled for a foul, stifling an extremely dangerous scoring opportunity.

Later, Zurrer chased down Okoroafo from behind to diffuse an apparent breakaway and slid to take the ball away from from the Purdue striker, regaining her feet and clearing all in one motion. Eyorokon managed just two shots on goal, while Okoroafo notched Purdue's other shot on frame.

In Sunday's 1-0 decision over Indiana, Zurrer's ability in the air and presence in the box was particularly useful, including heading away three potentially dangerous corner kicks. She also tracked back to strip the Hoosiers' leading scorer, Carrie DeFreece, preventing a free run on goal. DeFreece did not manage a shot on goal.

Amanda Alders scored three goals and added two assists in Stephen F. Austin's 6-2 win over Nicholls State Sunday, tying the school record with eight points in the game.

Alders assisted on the first two goals of the game, both scored by Lauren Fricks. The first came 38 second in when Fricks took Alders' left-side cross and nailed the top right corner of the net. Alders’ second assist came with 3:10 gone with Fricks banging hoe a rebound after Nicholls goalkeeper Sarah Neunzig stopped, but could not handle Alders' 20-yard blast.

At 5:02, Aders made it 3-0. winning a long ball, outrunning the NSU defense and ripping a 12-yard blast into the left side of the net. Her two second-half goals came in a span of four minutes, first heading in a cross by Shahin Pabani and then taking possession of a loose ball, outmanuevering Neunzig and depositing a shot in the unguarded net.

Alders leads SFA (8-7-1) and the Southland Conference with 10 goals and is tied for the top with 23 points. A year ago, she led the league with a Ladyjacks record 15 goals and was named conference "Player of the Year." Sunday's hat trick was her second as a collegian.
