Lapira's best goals were his first and last. After IU was able to tie the game on a penalty kick with 11.7 seconds left in regulation, Lapira took it upon himself to score the decisive tally in sudden death. After receiving a pass from Jack Traynor in the eighth minute of overtime, he carried the ball forward, dodged a defender and then chipped a shot from 25 yards out into the top right corner of the net. In the 30th minute, he put the Irish up 1-0 when he found space among a group of defenders and launched a shot from 18 yards that found the lower left corner of the net.
Lapira's tied the school record of four goals in a game, set by Kevin Lovejoy in 1993. "I don't know how good he is, but we didn't have an answer for him," a member of the IU coaching staff said. Lapira did not score, nor did anyone else in the Irish's 0-0 draw with Saint Louis Friday
