Claire Zimmeck entered last week having scored a modest four goals in 11 games. Over a period of five days and three games, she suddenly rediscovered the touch that made her William & Mary's leading scorer as a freshman, vaulting into W&M's 2006 scoring lead, having figured in all eight goals as the Tribe (13-1-2) rallied for three victories.

Zimmeck provided seven goals -- including three game-winners -- and one assist as W&M bested James Madison 3-1 at home before hitting the road and defeating Towson 2-0 and George Mason 3-2. Starting the week Tuesday against JMU, Zimmeck found net in the 23rd, 55th and and 69th minutes to stake the Tribe to a three-goal advantage on its way to victory.

Three days later, Zimmeck twice converted assists from Katie Hogwood -- in the 20th and 57th minutes -- to blank Towson, On Sunday, she tied the game at 1-1 by finding net in the 11th minute and fed Kelly Jenkins, whose goal in the 32nd minute put the Tibe ahead 2-1. After GMU equalized. Zimmeck took a pass from Donna Mataya and nailed the top right corner of the net from 18 yards.

Zimmeck opened this season with a goal in each of W&M's first three matches, then had only one goal in the next eight outings. Suddenly, the undeclared major is tied for the Colonial Athletic Association lead in goals (11), game-winning goals (five) and points (25). With 0.79 goals per game, she was tied for 16th in NCAA Division I through Sunday. Her 52 shots (a league-leading 3.71 per game) and 28 shots on goal easily make her the Tribe leader after a 2005 season in which Zimmeck led W&M with 11 goals, 25 points, 60 shots and 35 shots on goal, at least doubling the total of any teammate in each category.

W&M is 10-0-2 in its last 12 games and is first in the CAA at 7-0-1.

Brigitte Fox scored three goals in the opening 21:47 and assisted another for Navy (15-0) which rolled past Patriot League foe Colgate 4-0 in its only action last week. Fox became the first Midshipmen to record a hat trick since 2004 and only the eighth in the history of the program.

    Brigitte Fox
Fox is one of the Mids' most balanced players, using her power to beat opponents to the ball before taking advantage of a quick first step to free herself. She staked visiting Navy to a lead over Colgate 93 seconds into the contest after Molly Burd lofted a ball upfield. Fox outraced defenders to the ball and found her way past Colgate keeper Brittany Pearsall to put the Mids ahead for good.

In the 11th minute, Meggie Curran, who initiated the first scoring sequence, set up Fox who found net from 20 yards away. Eleven minutes later, Fox squeezed a shot between Carly Sousa, who replaced the shell-shocked Pearsall, and the right post to make it 3-0. Fox also assisted Curran for a final tally in the 86th minute.

Note: After this honor roll was selected, Fox opened the scoring with 3:05 elapsed, the first of 10 Mids to strike in a 10-0 romp over winless Howard (0-13), moving the Mids to 16-0, the only unbeaten, untied team among NCAA Division I men and women. Fox is second on Navy with seven goals, two behind Curran.

In Friday's 5-0 rout of Louisiana Lafayette, Morgan sent the Blue Raiders to a two-goal advantage in the opening 3:22. She put away a cross from Katy Rayburn from five yards out after 38 seconds and then headed home a cross from Holly Grogan. She later fed Grogan for the first of her two tallies in the 39th minute.

Morgan, a sports in exercise major who is on the conference academic honor roll, has recorded at least a goal or assist in 13 of Middle Tennessee's 16 games and has scored a goal in 11 outings. Her 18 goals and 1.13 goals per game both led NCAA Division I through Sunday, as do her 43 points and 2.69 points per game. Her 18 goals and 43 points are also second on the Middle Tennessee single-season scoring lists.

The Raiders are tied with Denver and North Texas for the Sun Belt lead at 8-0.

Salvi was better Sunday when she tied a school record with 15 saves -- several outstanding -- to defeat Memphis 4-1. Eight of her stops came during the first half, including a point-blank stop 10 minutes in and a later diving save of a free kick. She was equally impressive after intermission with her best stop coming with the Miners nursing a 2-1 lead with 15 minutes remaining. From just inside the box, Memphis’ Laura Laufenberg unleashed a blast headed toward the top right corner of the net, but Salvi elevated high and punched the ball just over the crossbar. Memphis had entered the contest with a prolific offense, averaging 2.43 goals per game.

Against the Mount, Crane got the Lancers off to a good start with a tally in the eighth minute. The marketing major set a career high with 10 shots and staked the Billikens to an early 1-0 lead in the ninth minute Friday, but Xavier stormed back for a 4-3 triumph.
