Nikki Marshall
Colorado
freshman forward
Mead, Colo.
Nikki Marshall continued the impressive start to her career at Colorado with a record-setting weekend in which she had two official game-winners. She became the first player in CU history to score four goals in a game and she did it in the first 49 minutes of the Buffaloes' 5-1 victory over Clemson on Friday. She might have even had five, but Clemson's Kelly Schneider earned a yellow card by knocking Marshall over from behind as she wound up to shoot from 19 yards.
Two days later, Marshall pushed the Buffs to a 2-0 advantage in the 27th minute en route to a 3-1 decision over Mississippi, allowing the Buffaloes to claim the title of their Colorado Soccer Classic. Marshall tied the CU record of eight points in a game and five goals over a two-game period, both held by Jenn Thais, who had three goals and two assists against against Texas Tech on October 17, 2004. On that day, Thais recorded the Buffs' only previous hat trick.
At 3-0-1, Colorado is off the the best start in 11-year history of the program. Marshall's speed was evident over the weekend and really was no surprise -- she was a track star at Skyline High School, 27 miles from CU's Boulder campus, where she also had 100 goals and 36 assists with the soccer team.

She sealed the win over USC, flicking home a header after Michele Weissenhofer's throw-in for a 2-0 lead in the 83rd minute. Against SCU, Cinalli had the primary assist on Jill Krivacek's 64th-minute goal, tying the game at 1-1, then scored twice to cap Notre Dame's three-goal surge in a span of nine minutes.
