(Sunday, November 21, 2004) -- His comeback from a lengthy quadriceps injury quickly aborted, United States midfielder Claudio Reyna was sent by Manchester City to see a specialist in Germany this week. There was no immediate report of the findings of that examination, but City expects Reyna to be out up to two additional months after already missing two months with his left thigh problem.   Full story

Rodriguez, Rapinoe score for 2-0 win over Australia in world quarters.

CHIANG MAI, Thailand (November 21, 2004) - Second-half goals by striker Amy Rodriguez and and midfielder Megan Rapinoe, plus a stifling defense that did not allow a shot on goal, led the United States to a 2-0 victory over Australia in the quarterfinals of the Under-19 Women's World Championship. The defending champion U.S. advanced to a semifinal meeting Wednesday with Germany.   Full story

COLUMBUS, Ohio (Wednesday, November 17, 2004) -- The U.S. began and ended its successful CONCACAF Semifinal World Cup Qualifying round playing 1-1 draws with Jamaica. There was little similarity with the matches. After being lucky to escape Kingston August 18 with a point in the standings, a relatively inexperienced American lineup played Jamaica even tonight in Columbus, Ohio, ending the visitors run to the 2006 World Cup.   Full story

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (Friday, November 12, 2004) -- It took virtually no time for the first seeded team to be eliminated from the NCAA tournament's first round. Central Florida stunned No. 9 Florida, the 10th seed, 3-0 at rainy James G. Pressly Stadium this afternoon. Goals by Courtney Baines, Jennifer Montgomery and Kendra Flock in a 12-minute period spanning intermission staked the Golden Knights (17-3-2) to a three-goal advantage.   Full story

Players, league agree on first collective bargaining deal.

CARSON, Calif. (Thursday, November 11, 2004) -- For the first time, Major League Soccer players have a collective bargaining agreement with the league. MLS, which will stage its ninth championship match Sunday when the Kansas City Wizards face D.C. United at Home Depot Center, and the MLS Players Union, announced the deal today in separate press releases.    Full story

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Saturday, November 6, 2004) -- Goalkeeper Nick Rimando stopped Clint Dempsey's penalty kick in a tiebreaker to seal D.C. United's 4-3 edge over the New England Revolution in a tiebreaker after the two teams played a thrilling 3-3 draw through 120 minutes in the Major League Soccer Eastern Division title match.
