Bowers scores twice to rally U.S. over Canada 3-1. Americans complete two-game U-23 sweep.

BEAVERTON, Ore. (Monday, March 30, 1998) -- Scott Bowers scored twice and Steve Cherundolo added a goal as the United States under-23 team came from behind to beat Canada 3-1 tonight at Nike Stadium, completing a two-game sweep of Canada.

Jason Bent gave Canada a 1-0 advantage in the 23d minute off an assist by Jason Jordon, but the U.S. needed only three minutes to tie the score at 1 on Bowers’ unassisted goal.

Bowers put the Americans ahead 2-1 in the 40th minute, converting a pass from Brian West. Two minutes later, Cherundolo upped the U.S. lead to 3-1 off a feed from Evan Whitfield.
