U-21, U-18 women win in Germany; U-20 men tie Morocco.

EDERSBERG, Germany (Wednesday, March 10, 1999) -- The United States women's under-21 team rallied from two goals down in the second half to defeat Germany 3-2 in a doubleheader where the U.S. under-18s blanked their German counterparts 1-0.

In Casa Blanca, Morocco, the American under-20 men played a 1-1 draw with the host nation.

Midfielder Beth Keller (Hilton Head, S.C.) found net off an assist from defender Jen Grubb (Hoffman Estates, Ill.) in the 79th minute to cap a three-goal rally in a 14-minute span.

Midfielder Aly Wagner (San Jose, Calif.) tied the game with an unassisted tally in the 71st minute.

Five minutes after entering the match, Mary-Frances Monroe (East Northport, N.Y.) got the U.S. on the board by converting a pass from striker Meredith Florance (Dallas) in the 65th minute.

The U.S. trailed 2-0 after Heike Graz and Tanja Vreden scored unassisted goals in the 40th and 52d minutes, respectively.

The under-18 women triumphed when Veronica Zepeda netted an assist by Christie Welsh in the 67th minute.

Both womenís teams will take on Denmark in a doubleheader in Copenhagen on Saturday.

Midfielder John Thorington (Palos Verde, Calif.) scored off an assist from defender Dan Califf (Orange Calif.) in the 69th minute to earn the draw for the menís under-20s.

The men will play Morocco again Friday in Casa Blanca before returning home.
