Hedjuk plays half of Leverkusenís 1-1 draw with Dynamo Kiev.

(Wednesday, September 29, 1999) -- American Frankie Hedjuk played the second half of Bayer Leverkusen's somewhat disappointing Champions League 1-1 draw with Dynamo Kiev today.

For most of this season, Hedjuk has been playing at right back in his appearances for Bayer. But today he was inserted at halftime for striker Oliver Neuville and played an attacking wing midfield position.

Meanwhile in England, goalie Brad Friedel finally made an appearance for Liverpool, but it was in a reserve match in which Liverpool defeated Sheffield Wednesday 2-1.

It appears for the time being Friedel will not be dressing for first team matches.

Also in Champions league play this week, Hertha Berlin improved its chances of advancing by drawing with AC Milan 1-1 in Milan. American midfielder Tony Sanneh did not play for Hertha.

Hertha and Milan both have five points from three games. England's Chelsea is third, a point behind, with Turkey's Galatasaray at the bottom of the group with one point.

Hertha has two of its last three matches at home so it is in good position to advance to the next round.
