Adu, Ralston leave Carson training camp.

CARSON, Calif. (Thursday, February 2, 2006) -- Freddy Adu was sent home from the United States men's training camp today and will join D.C. United when it starts its Major League Soccer preseason practice Monday.

Midfielder Steve Ralston also left camp after straining his right quadriceps.

Adu has been in camp since it began January 4 and he made his first international appearance as a late substitute in a 0-0 draw with Canada January 22 in San Diego. Entering in the 73rd minute, the 16-year-old attacker drew a yellow card two minutes later for diving.

Adu did not play Sunday when the Americans blanked Norway 5-0 here at The Home Depot Center.

After a three-day break, training resumed today with striker Eddie Johnson back in training for the first time since leaving the match against Canada with a bruised right calf.

Twenty-six players are in camp with a February 10 friendly against Japan in San Francisco next on the schedule. After that come a February 19 meeting with Guatemala in Frisco, Texas.

Every player now in camp, except for defender Heath Pearce, who plays for FC Nordsjślland in Denmark, comes from MLS. Arena is expected to call on Americans based in Europe for a pair of games in Germany -- March 1 against Poland in Kaiserslautern and March 22 against Germany in Dortmund.
