U.S. National Team: Benson earned a spot as a U.S. Under-20 National Team pool player after the 1996 and 1997 seasons. She played in four games and started two for the Under-20 Team in a spring 1997 swing through North Carolina ... First Appearance: Jan 11, 2001 vs. China ... First Goal: none.

College: One of the most creative midfielders in the nation for three seasons, she moved to defender as a senior for the Huskers in 2000 ... A four-time first-team All-Big 12 Conference and Big 12 All-Tournament midfielder, Benson is Nebraska's career leader with 47 assists including a single-season school record 17 assists in 1999 ... Benson's 82 career points and 22 career goals rank fourth all-time at Nebraska..

High School: Led Marina High School to California Interscholastic Federation championships and Sunset League championships in 1993, 1994 and 1995 ... During that stretch, helped Marina to a 61-0-3 unbeaten streak ... Marina finished with a No. 3 national ranking in 1995 ... voted the CIF Defensive Player of the Year in the spring of 1996 ... earned first-team Los Angeles Times and first-team Orange County Register honors in 1996 and was the MVP of the Sunset League ... was a three-year varsity starter and earned Marina High School most valuable offensive player honors in 1994 ... Along with her soccer honors, Benson was a member of the varsity track team for two seasons and the MVP of Marina's junior varsity volleyball team in 1994 ...
