Women's World Cup CONCACAF qualifying semis set for Friday.ETOBICOKE, Ontario (Wednesday, September 2, 1998) -- Mexico clinched first place in Group B with a 2-2 draw against Trinidad & Tobago in the CONCACAF qualifying tournament for the 1998 Women’s World Cup at Centennial Stadium.Mexico will face Group A runnerup Guatemala in a Friday night semifinal. Costa Rica, which Beat Haiti 2-1 tonight, finished second in Group B and will play Group A winner Canada Friday. Iris Moragave Mexico (2-0-1) a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute with her third goal of the tournament. Izler Brown leveled the score for Trinidad (1-1-1) 13 minutes later with her second goal of the event. Monica Gerardo first goal of the tournament put Mexico up again 2-1 in the 68th minute. But Delia De Silva pulled Trinidad even again at 2 with a penalty kick in the 73d minute mark In the first match, Costa Rica scored two first half goals and held on. Costa Rican captain Carla Aleman converted a penalty kick three minutes into the match Cintia Mora put Costa Rica (2-1-0) up 2-0 in the 24th minute on a free kick just outside the penalty area.
