Sheffield United will already be preparing for life back in the Premier League, and the Blades could be set to step up their interest in an MLS star.

Lewis O’Brien has excelled since arriving in the American soccer league, but Nottingham Forest could opt to recall the loan player in order to sell the midfielder on a permanent basis to the Blades.

Sheffield United step up O’Brien transfer interest

The Blades will be looking to do business early in the transfer window this year, and a move for O’Brien ranks high among their targets, according to The Sun.

O’Brien only signed for Nottingham Forest last summer, but he made just 13 Premier League appearances before being loaned out in January. Despite being linked with a move to Blackburn, he eventually moved to Wayne Rooney’s D.C. United.

Since arriving in the MLS, he has scored one goal in eight appearances. However, the 24-year-old still sees his future in the Premier League, and a permanent move to Bramall Lane would be an interesting proposition.
