Brazil more just a thrilling strike-force

|

Brazil head to this summer’s World Cup as one of the favourites to lift the trophy. A humiliating 7-1 semi-final victory over Germany on home soil four years ago is now a distant memory.

The Selecao under the masterful Tite look like the complete package. While observers will be salivating over the skills of Gabriel Jesus, Neymar and Philippe Coutinho, Tite’s team have quality throughout their squad.

One of the best goalkeepers in the world

Brazil are not famous for producing top-class goalkeepers. In fact, in years gone by Brazilian goalkeepers were often figures of fun. However, in Roma’s Allison, the Selecao have one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

The 25-year-old has established a massive reputation through outstanding performances for the Giallorossi in Serie A and the Champions League.

Alisson has reportedly attracted attention from the likes of Chelsea, Real Madrid and Liverpool. He cannot rest on his laurels, though, as his back-up is Manchester City’s outstanding Ederson.

Experience at the back

In defence, Brazil has a number of highly experienced performers. Despite the absence of Dani Alves, Tite can still call upon the likes of Thiago Silva, Miranda and Marcelo, who all have immense experience in the European game.

With the other defensive options Felipe Luis, Danilo and Marquinhos, the Selecao look well covered in every department at the back.

A fine engine room

Brazil also has a fine engine room when it comes to the middle of the park. In Real Madrid’s Casemiro, they have one of the best defensive midfielders in the world game.

Then there is highly-experienced and rated Manchester City star Fernandinho, who brings great intelligence and experience to the team. The former Bayer Leverkusen star Renato Augusto has always been a talented player, but a change of position to a box-to-box midfielder has brought the best out of the 30-year-old. He is one of the first names on Tite’s teamsheet.

Former Spurs star Paulinho has enjoyed a career revival at Barcelona. He has enjoyed a fantastic first campaign in Catalonia, winning La Liga and the Copa del Rey. The 29-year-old scored 12 goals for the Blaugrana and proved many of his critics wrong.

Manchester United-bound Fred is inexperienced at international level. However, the pacey midfielder has been earning rave reviews playing for Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk. He is a dynamic player, who could give United fans a glimpse of what is yet to come in Russia.

Tite has created the perfect mix

Tite has found a perfect balance between defensive solidity and the sort of skill that is traditionally associated with Brazilian players. The Brazilian boss is highly regarded, despite his unwillingness to coach outside his homeland. Tite’s has studied the European game to learn as much as he can, which has helped in achieving the current blend in his squad.

The effect he has had on the current set of players is highly impressive. While he is not a big name outside his homeland, the players in his charge seem to have a respect and admiration for their boss.

That respect could well play a big part in the Selecao’s World Cup 2018 campaign. Brazil looks strong in every area of the team and certainly look to have all the ingredients to lift the trophy this summer.

Does Brazil have any weaknesses?
