FPL Pre-season Ones to watch: Premium midfielders part two

|

The premium midfielder options do not end with the players in yesterday’s articles, oh no. There are a few other interesting options in the premium category. Here are some of those options:

Leroy Sane (Manchester City, £9.5M)

Despite speculation over a summer move to Bayern Munich, Sane remains a Manchester City player for now anyway. The Germany international fell out of favour with Citizens boss Pep Guardiola towards the end of last season.

However, it did not stop the winger finishing the season with an impressive ten goals and 12 assists. In fact, he was only three assists down from the previous campaign, which some believe to be his best at City. Sane definitely offers a potential points haul every week. However, it is worth monitoring his game time in pre-season and also the speculation linking him with a move away from Manchester.

Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City, £9.5m)

The Belgian endured a stop-start campaign due to injury. Despite the injury problems he scored two goals and produced three assists. The former Chelsea star now looks to be over his injury problems.

When fit he is the first choice in the centre of midfield for City. Some may see the midfielder as a potential alternative to Raheem Sterling for City cover. However, he does not offer the same explosiveness as the England winger. He is definitely a good FPL option and should enjoy a far more fruitful campaign when it comes to points this season, as City look to win their third straight Premier League title.

Heung-Min Son (Tottenham, £9.5m)

The South Korean was one of the heroes of Tottenham’s run to the Champions League final last season. He also banked a fair few FPL points last season, scoring 12 times and producing eight assists in the top-flight.

Only Christian Eriksen and Harry Kane scored more FPL points than Son, scoring a measly two more points than the former Hamburg star. The one big negative for the lively forward is that he is suspended until the third game of the season after a sending in last season’s final game.

When he is back from suspension the South Korean is sure to play a key role in Tottenham team as an attacking midfielder, and occasionally filling in for Kane up front.

Dele Alli (Tottenham, £8.5m)

The England international midfielder experienced the worse campaign of his Spurs career last season. He had produced double figures in both goals and assists on a regular basis in his previous three top-flight campaigns.

However, Alli, who is still only 23 produced just five goals and four assists last season, a poor return by his previously high standards. He will expect to do better in the new season, especially now that Spurs have added extra defensive protection in the shape of defensive midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.

Spurs have a mixed start to their Premier League campaign. However, they have home games against Aston Villa and Newcastle in their opening three matches. If Alli can rediscover his form, he could be a bargain at £8.5m later on in the season.

Will any of the above midfielders be in your FPL team?
