Prediction and odds for the game: Manchester City (3/10) v Manchester United (9/2) We are backing both teams to score at odds of 4/5.

When: Saturday 07th December 2019, Kick-off 5:30 PM

Where: The Etihad Stadium

In the Premier League late kick-off on Saturday, Manchester City and Manchester United go head-to-head at the Etihad Stadium in a crucial derby for the home team.

Manchester City

In truth, Manchester City now needs to win all their games and hope that Premier League leaders Liverpool endure a terrible patch of form at some point, as the Citizens are 11 points behind Jurgen Klopp’s team.

The Reds may have been outstanding, but Pep Guardiola’s team have not helped their own situation by some underwhelming displays this season. Last time out in the top-flight, they returned to winning ways with a 4-1 win at Burnley. The victory means that the Citizens have scored at least twice in six of their last seven matches in the English top-flight.

Despite City not living up to their displays from last season, the Citizens have still recorded victories in 14 of their last 16 matches at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League. The reigning champions have also scored at least twice in six of their last seven top-flight matches on home soil.

Manchester United

The visitors head to their neighbours in confident mood after recording a midweek 2-1 win over Tottenham at Old Trafford, with Marcus Rashford grabbing a brace. The victory means that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team are undefeated in four league matches, having scored at least twice in all four undefeated games.

The decent run of form has moved the Red Devils up to sixth-place in the Premier League table, but they are still eight points outside the Champions League spots. Despite the positivity of the win over Spurs, United have still won just three of their last ten league matches.

United have been travel sick in recent months, as they have claimed just one away win in their last 11 top-flight away days, including losing three of their previous five on their travels. A fact that United have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 12 away games in the top-flight has to be a factor in their poor away form.

United have won just one of the last five meetings with their arch-rivals, which was at the Etihad Stadium in April 2018.

Conclusion

Manchester City simply cannot afford to lose any more ground on leaders Liverpool if they are to have even a crumble of hope of catching Jurgen Klopp’s team this season. United head to their neighbours in high spirits after the win over Spurs.

We believe City will have too much quality for the visitors. However, there is not much value in the home win. Therefore, we are backing both teams to score at odds of 4/5. With City’s recent defensive vulnerability, we are also backing an in-form Marcus Rashford to be an anytime scorer at odds of 11/4.

Verdict: Back both teams to score at odds of 4/5 and/or Marcus Rashford to score anytime at odds of 11/4. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
