Prediction and odds for the game: Leicester (8/15) v West Ham (5/1)

We are backing the home win

When: 22nd January 2020, kick-off 7:30 PM

Where: The King Power Stadium

On Wednesday night, Leicester will look to get back to decent form, as the Foxes host struggling West Ham at the King Power Stadium in the Premier League.

Leicester

After a sensational start to their Premier League campaign, Leicester’s form has taken a turn for the worse in recent weeks. In fact, a 2-1 defeat at Burnley last time out means that the Foxes have now suffered back-to-back league defeats. They have also won just two of their last seven Premier League matches.

Despite their recent poor run of form, Brendan Rodgers’ team are still well-placed to seal a top-four finish in the Premier League. The Foxes are currently 11 points clear of Manchester United in fifth place. It would take an incredible slump in form for the home side to miss out on a Champions League spot this season.

The Foxes have now failed to win in three home matches in the English top-flight, having suffered two straight defeats. Considering the opposition, they will be hopeful of getting back to winning ways.

West Ham

The Hammers have experienced mixed fortunes since the appointment of David Moyes as head coach. Their record under the former Everton boss in the top-flight so far reads won one, drew one and lost one.

Last time out in the top-flight, the Irons produced a lacklustre display in a 1-1 home draw against Everton. The draw leaves the team from east London just a point above the Premier League relegation zone. They will be looking nervously over their shoulders at the teams in the danger zone.

In truth, West Ham’s recent form has been that of a team fighting the drop, as they have won just three of their previous 15 outings in the English top-flight.   A run of three defeats in their last five league outings has not helped confidence within the club.

The Irons away results have not helped their chances of breaking further clear of the bottom three. The visitors have lost three of their last four matches on their travels in the Premier League.

Their recent away games have been relatively low-scoring in the top-flight, with under 2.5 goals scored in four of their last five away games in the top-flight.

Conclusion

Neither of these teams are in great form. However, Leicester unquestionably has more quality within their ranks. The absence of defensive midfielder Wilfried Ndidi has had a big effect on the Foxes. The Nigerian international is still a doubt for this clash.

Despite Ndidi’s likely absence, we are backing Leicester to get back to winning ways, as West Ham have just been so underwhelming of late in the Premier League.

We are also backing the over 2.5 goals at odds of 8/13, as Leicester’s recent matches have been high-scoring and West Ham are still not great in defence, despite a slight improvement of late.

Verdict: We are backing the home win at odds 8/15 and or the over 2.5 goals at odds of 8/13. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
