With a dearth of football over the next few days, we turn our attention once to the Belarus Premier League for an early preview of Torpedo Zhodino’s home game with Belshina Bobruisk.

Torpedo Zhodino

The home side enjoyed a decent campaign in last season’s Premier Division, finishing sixth place in the table. Yuriy Pontus’ team also kicked off the new campaign with a victory, seeing off Shakhtyor 1-0. The game came after Torpedo had suffered back to back defeats in the Belarus cup against the same opponents.

Torpedo Zhodino may have finished higher in the table last season if they had not suffered three straight league defeats at the end of the campaign. If their opening game was anything to go by, they have tightened up in defence, as they conceded at least twice in all three of those end of season defeats.

The home side ended last season in inconsistent form at home in the top-flight, as they lost two of their last three matches on home soil in the league. However, those two defeats were also their only two defeats in ten matches in the Belarussian top division.

Belshina Bobruisk

The visitors won promotion to the top-flight after three seasons away from the Belarus Premier Division. Belshina did not make a great start to life back in the top-flight, as they suffered a 3-1 home defeat against FC Minsk. The defeat means that dating back to their last spell in the Belarus Premier Division, they have failed win in eight matches.

They are certainly going to have to perform better than they did in their previous spell in the top-flight, as the visitors have now won just once in 16 league outings.

Both teams have scored in five of the visitors last seven league outings. However, that probably matters little considering the gap between their last spell and current spell in the top-flight.

Unsurprisingly, considering they suffered relegation in their last spell in the top-flight, Belshina have a poor recent away record in the Belarus Premier Division, winning just once in their last nine outings on their travels. The visitors defensively displays need to improve this time around, as they kept just one clean sheet in their last nine away games in the Belarus Premier Division.

Conclusion

The home side are the favourites to come out and on top and we are not arguing with that status backing the home win in this clash. We are also backing the over 2.5 goals scored. The home sides games towards the end of last season were high-scoring, as were the visitors.

Verdict: We are backing the home win at odds of 8/15 and/or the over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 4/5. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
