Prediction and odds for the game: Ruh Brest (13/8) v FC Minsk (7/4)

We are backing the away win

When: Saturday 18th April 2020, Kick-off 2 PM

Where: The Yunost Stadium

On Saturday afternoon, Ruh Brest host FC Minsk in the Belarus Premier League, as both teams look to kick-start their league campaigns.

Ruh Brest

The home side are in their debut campaign in the Belarus Premier League. They have made a mixed start to life in the top-flight so far, picking up four points from a possible 12. Ruh Brest made a memorable start to the campaign winning 1-0 at Dinamo Minsk before suffering two straight 1-0 defeats against Energetik-BGU and BATE Borisov. They did, however, pick up a more positive 0-0 draw at Slavia Mozyr last time out in the league.

The home side have lost their only home game in the Premier League in Energetik. However, they finished last season in the second tier with a five-match unbeaten run on home soil, which ensured they won promotion via a play-off. They had also scored in all five of those unbeaten home games before blanking in their only home game of this season.

FC Minsk

The visitors have picked up just two more points than the home side this season. They made a promising start by recording back-to-back league wins over Belshina and Dinamo Minsk before they suffered two straight losses against Energetik and last time out a 3-0 home hammering by BATE.

The inconsistent start to the new campaign is just a continuation from last season when they finished the campaign in a similar sort of manner. The team from the capital cannot be faulted for the level of entertainment on offer in their league games this season, as three of the four of their games have produced 2.5 goals, while the other produced two goals too. The high-scoring games are a new thing for Minsk this season, as their final five matches of last season all produced under 2.5 goals.

Minsk have a poor recent away record in the Premier League, as they have won just once in their last five matches in the top-flight, including three defeats. Their recent away games in the top-flight have been low-scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in four of their last five matches. The fact that the visitors have failed to score in three of those five games has been a big factor in the lack of goals.

Conclusion

The home side are now finding life in the top-flight tough after that decent start to the campaign. Minsk are poor travellers, but we are backing the visitors to pull off a victory. The other bet we are backing is the under 2.5 games, as Minsk’s recent away matches have been low-scoring, as have Ruh Brest’s league games this season.

Verdict: We are backing the away win at odds of 7/4 and/or the under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 8/13. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
