Prediction and odds for the game: Manchester City (2/7) v Leicester (17/2)

We are backing both teams to score at odds of 3/4

When: Sunday, 27th September 16:30

Where: The Etihad Stadium

On Sunday afternoon, Manchester City host Leicester at the Etihad Stadium, in what could be one of the most entertaining games in this weekend’s Premier League weekend.

Manchester City

The Citizens kicked off their Premier League campaign with a 3-1 win at Wolves. The victory was a good way to start their top-flight, as Pep Guardiola’s team looks to wrestle the Premier League trophy back off reigning champions Liverpool.

The victory in their first league game of the campaign means that the home side has now recorded six consecutive wins in the Premier League, whilst also scoring at least twice in all six victories. City have also scored at least twice in nine of their previous 11 matches in the English top-flight.

Manchester City head into this clash undefeated in 11 Premier League matches at the Etihad Stadium, having recorded an impressive ten wins. Their attacking threat is the key to the Citizens recent good record on home soil, as they have managed to find the net at least twice in all 11 of those undefeated matches.

The Citizens have won six of their last seven meetings with Leicester in the Premier League. The men from Manchester will be hopeful of making it seven out of eight.

Leicester

Brendan Rodgers team have started their Premier League campaign with two wins out of two. The Foxes kicked off their league campaign with a 3-0 win at West Brom before recording a 4-2 home win over Burnley. The good start to the campaign was needed, as they won just once in their final five games of last season.

The visitors recent league games have been relatively high-scoring, with at least two goals scored in their previous six games in the top-flight. Three of their last four Premier League games have also produced over 2.5 goals.

The opening weekend win at West Brom brought to an end an eight-game winless run for the Foxes in the English top-flight. Rodgers team had also lost five of those eight winless games. Their biggest weakness on their travels in the Premier League of late has been defending, as the visitors have kept just two clean sheets in their last nine away matches. Their poor recent defensive displays on the road have contributed to over 2.5 goals scored in four of their last five away matches.

Conclusion

Manchester City looked very sharp in the first half of the Wolves game but faded in the second half. That was understandable considering it was their first competitive league game of the season. Leicester’s form has certainly enjoyed a good turnaround from last season.

Despite Leicester’s good start to the campaign, we think City will win this clash. However, there is not much value in the home win. Instead, we will turn to one of our favourites, the goals market. The first bet we are recommending is both teams to score, as both teams are very sharp going forward. The other is to back Phil Foden to score in his second straight game, as the youngster is playing in an advanced role in the Citizens midfield.

Verdict: We are backing both teams to score at odds of 3/4 and/or Phil Foden to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 8/5. (All odds are taken from Bet365)
