Prediction and odds for the game: Liverpool (9/20) v Arsenal (11/2)

We are backing Sadio Mane to be an anytime scorer at odds of 6/5

When: Monday, 28th September 2020 Kick-off 20:00

Where: Anfield

On Monday night, Liverpool host Arsenal at Anfield on Monday night, as both team look to maintain their hundred per cent records in the Premier League.

Liverpool

The reigning champions have started their Premier League campaign with back-to-back victories over Leeds United and last time out, ten-man Chelsea. Last time out, Jurgen Klopp’s team recorded a 7-2 win at Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup third round.

The opening two league victories mean that the Reds have now won their last four top-flight games, scoring at least two goals in all the victories. In fact, the Merseysider’s have found the net at least twice in six of their last eight Premier League outings.

Liverpool have a formidable recent record at Anfield in the English top-flight, as they are unbeaten in 60 home games. The Reds have also recorded victories in 26 of their last 27 league matches in the Premier League.

The reigning champions are unbeaten against the visitors on home soil in eight games in all competitions. Jurgen Klopp’s team has also scored at least three goals in their previous six home games against Arsenal.

Arsenal

The Gunners have made a positive start to their top-flight campaign, recording wins over Fulham and West Ham. Mikel Arteta’s team also recorded a 2-0 win over Leicester in the Carabao Cup last time out. The good start to the campaign is of little surprise, as there has been an air of positivity around the north London club since the appointment of Arteta as head coach.

Despite Liverpool’s good start to the season, the Gunners will feel that they can go to Anfield and give the champions a challenge. Arsenal won the Community Shield on penalties against Klopp’s team after a 1-1 draw. They also recorded a 2-1 victory over the reigning champions the last time the pair met in the Premier League.

The visitor’s recent top-flight games have certainly offered value for money when it comes to goals, as five of their previous six matches have produced over 2.5 goals.

Arsenal have not been great travellers of late in the Premier League, as just two wins from their last 12 away games in the top-flight illustrates. However, all three of those away wins have been in their previous five matches on the road.

Conclusion

This game has goals written all over it. In recent years there have been some high-scoring encounters. Monday night’s clash may also be the same. However, the over 2.5 goals scored offers very little value. Instead, we are backing both teams to score, as both are dangerous in attack and are not the most solid in defence. The other bet we are backing is Sadio Mane to add to his brace last time out by being an anytime scorer in this clash.

Verdict: We are backing Sadio Mane to be an anytime scorer at odds of 6/5 and/or both teams to score at odds of 4/6. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
