Prediction and odds for the game: Everton (19/10) v Manchester United (7/5)

We are backing the draw at odds of 5/2

When: Saturday, 7th November 2020, kick-off 12:30

Where: Goodison Park

In Saturday’s early kick-off in the Premier League, Everton host Manchester United at Goodison Park in what could be a vital north west derby for both teams.

Everton

After winning their opening four Premier League games this season, the Toffees have now failed to win in their last three league outings. The Merseysider’s head into this clash on the back of two straight league defeats for the first time under Carlo Ancelotti, with losses against Southampton and Newcastle.

The defeat have come with mitigating circumstances, as the home side started the Newcastle game without Lucas Digne, Richarlison, Seamus Coleman, James Rodriguez and Mason Holgate through injury and suspension. Digne will return to the starting line-up, while James Rodriguez is still a fitness doubt. The key absentees have certainly had a major impact on Ancelotti’s team, as it would any team in the Premier League.

On positive for Everton going into this clash is that they have been difficult to beat on home soil, as they have suffered just once in their previous 15 home games in the Premier League. On the flip-side, though, the Toffees have also conceded at least twice in their previous four league games at Goodison Park.

Manchester United

The Red Devils have struggled for results in the Premier League this season and have dropped to 15th place in the table. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team have claimed just one win in their previous four games in the English top-flight.

Last time out, the visitors suffered a 1-0 home defeat against Arsenal. It was the second league game in which United failed to score. At the other end of the pitch, the visitors have kept just one clean sheet in their last six Premier League outings. Their poor form continued in midweek, as United suffered a surprise 2-1 defeat against Istanbul Basekehir in the Champions League.

Despite a poor recent home record, the Red Devils have not lost in nine top-flight games on their travels, recording seven victories. The visitors have been prolific on their travels. In fact, they have scored at least twice in their last six away games in the Premier League.

The Red Devils have lost on just one of their last five visits to Goodison Park. With their recent away record in the top-flight, United will be confident of getting their league campaign back on track. Although United travel to Merseyside without Brazilian full-back Alex Telles, who is ruled out due to testing positive for COVID-19.

Conclusion

Everton’s lack of squad depth has been exposed in recent games. However, they tend to be strong on home soil. The Red Devils are such a dangerous team on their travels but are highly unpredictable. We are backing the draw, as the Toffees will have to react after a woeful display against Newcastle last time out. Looking at the two teams recent for and against records, then over 2.5 goals scored looks a good bet.

Verdict: We are backing the draw at odds of 5/2 and/or over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 8/11 (All odds are taken from Bet365)
