Prediction and odds for the game: Manchester United (10/3) vs Manchester City (8/11)

We are backing Kevin De Bruyne to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 15/8

When: Saturday, 12th December 2020, Kick-off 17:30

Where: Old Trafford

On Saturday evening, Manchester United and Manchester City go head-to-head at Old Trafford, in what could be a massive derby in the Premier League.

Manchester United

The Red Devils are developing a reputation for being highly inconsistent. A midweek 3-2 defeat at RB Leipzig saw Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team exit the Champions League. The defeat was a massive disappointment for United, who had built up some momentum in the Premier League by recording four straight wins.

Solskjaer’s team have been impressive in attack of late in the English top-flight, scoring at least three goals in three of their last four games. A big factor in that prolific run of scoring is the form of Bruno Fernandes, who has scored four goals and produced three assists in their last four league matches.

The Red Devils have a poor recent record in the Premier League at Old Trafford, as they have won just one of their last seven league outings on home soil. United recorded a 1-0 victory over struggling West Brom in their previous home game, but it was not a comfortable victory.

Manchester City

After an underwhelming start to their Premier League, it now looks like the Citizens form is improving. A 3-0 midweek home win against Olympiakos in the Champions League means that Pep Guardiola’s team are undefeated in five matches, having recorded four wins in the process.

The visitors have started to look much improved in defence, as they have now kept five straight clean sheets in all competitions. Their last two Premier League games have seen a 5-0 win over Burnley and a 2-0 victory over Fulham. Not only have City found form at the back, but the Citizens also seem to have rediscovered their attacking mojo too.

To add to the positives, the win over Olympiakos saw star striker Sergio Aguero return from injury off the bench. The veteran star even scored in the clash. The Argentinian may start this game on the substitutes bench once more.

Manchester City’s recent away form has been inconsistent in the Premier League. However, a 2-0 defeat at Tottenham in their last league away match ended an undefeated six-game run. The visitors recent away games in the English top-flight have been relatively low-scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in their previous four matches on their travels.

Conclusion

Manchester United have a good recent record against Manchester City, as the Red Devils have won three of their last four meetings with the Citizens. The home team have been so unpredictable and we never know what Manchester United will turn up.

We are avoiding the winners market on this one due to United’s unpredictability and instead focussing on the goals market. The first bet we are recommending is City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne to be an anytime goalscorer, as the Belgian international has looked dangerous of late. The other bet we are recommending is under 2.5 goals scored, simply because City have suddenly found some defensive solidity.

Verdict: We are backing Kevin De Bruyne to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 15/8 and/or under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 6/5. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
