Gameweek 12 is no sooner over and then gameweek 13 kicks off on Tuesday night with a full schedule of games over two nights in the Premier League. It is fair to say our gameweek 12 picks were a success, as three of our four picks delivered points, two picking up bonus points. Here are our gameweek 13 picks:

Alex McCarthy (Southampton, £4.6m)

The Saints number one is becoming popular as a budget pick for FPL players who are looking for a set and forget goalkeeper that picks up the odd clean sheet and save points. McCarthy is a good choice for anybody who doesn’t want to rotate their goalkeepers or who want to save money on their goalkeeper.

A game away at Arsenal in previous seasons would not have offered much in the way of potential when it comes to clean sheets. However, Ralph Hasenhuttl’s team head to the Emirates Stadium for their clash with the Gunners hopeful of a clean sheet. The fact that Mikel Arteta’s team have failed to score in six of their last eight league games makes McCarthy a shrewd budget goalkeeper pick in gameweek 13.

Reece James (Chelsea, £5.3m)

The young Chelsea full-back is enjoying an outstanding campaign, going from strength to strength. Not only has he been a part of an improved Blues defence, but he has also offered a big attacking threat.

James has scored once and produced two assists this season, but has been unfortunate not to add to that tally. In fact, he hit the post in the Blues 1-0 defeat at Everton last time out. On Tuesday night, Frank Lampard’s team face a trip to Wolves, who are struggling for goals. The game offers potential points at both ends of the pitch.

Patrick Bamford (Leeds, £6.2m)

The Leeds forward is looking more and more attractive by the week, as the Yorkshire outfit seek to return to winning ways. Bamford still seems to pick up points, as in the last eight gameweeks the forward has found the net five times and also produced an assist.

This weekend Leeds host Newcastle, who have been inconsistent of late, despite a mini two-game winning run in the Premier League. They also face Burnley and West Brom in the next three league matches. At £6.2m, the 27-year-old looks to be good value.

Bobby Decordova-Reid (Fulham, £5.3m)

There are not many forward options below £5.5m that play on a regular basis. However, Decordova-Reid is one of them. However, he is more than just a budget enabler. The 27-year-old seems to have hit form of late, producing attacking returns in three of his last four league appearances.

The former Bristol City star seems to shine at home particularly, as he has scored in his last three league outings at Craven Cottage. The Cottagers form seems to be improving and this weekend they face a home match against fellow strugglers Brighton. Decordova-Reid will fancy his chances of continuing his home scoring run against the Seagulls.

Will any of our gameweek 13 picks be in your FPL team?
