Prediction and odds for the game: Manchester City (3/10) vs Tottenham (17/2)

We are backing Phil Foden to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 6/4

When: Saturday, 13th February 2021, Kick-off 17:30

Where: The Etihad Stadium

On Saturday evening, Manchester City host Tottenham at the Etihad Stadium, as the home side look to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table.

Manchester City

The Citizens produced a superb display to record a 4-1 win at reigning champions Liverpool last time out, although they were given a helping hand by some rare mistakes by the Reds goalkeeper Alisson.

The victory means that City are five points clear of second-place Manchester United, with a game in hand on the Red Devils. The Citizens are also now a massive ten points clear of champions Liverpool.

The men from Manchester are 14 Premier League games undefeated, having recorded ten straight top-flight wins. The recent good run has been built on a superb defensive record, as Pep Guardiola’s team has conceded just once in their last seven matches in the English Premier League.

The Citizens are undefeated in their last ten league matches at the Etihad Stadium, claiming an impressive eight victories. They have also not conceded in their last five league games at the Etihad Stadium.

One negative for City heading into this clash is that they have lost their last two games against Spurs. However, both of those defeats were in north London.

Tottenham

The team from north London head into this clash on the back of a chaotic 5-4 extra-time defeat to Everton in the FA Cup fifth round. Jose Mourinho’s side could have done without the extra-time of football going into this difficult game.

The draw in normal time against Everton means that Tottenham have won just one of their last five matches in all competitions. They did get back to winning ways in the Premier League in their last outing, with a 2-0 home win over West Brom. The win ended a three-game losing run for the visitors in the Premier League. It also saw Spurs keep their first clean sheet in six league matches.

Spurs have been slightly travel-sick of late in the English top-flight, as they have recorded just one win in their last six away matches. They have also not kept a clean sheet in five away games on their travels.

One positive of late for the visitors is the return from injury of Harry Kane. The England international returned to the starting line-up against West Brom, before making a cameo from the bench against Everton in midweek. He will be sure to start this clash.

Conclusion

Manchester City have such great momentum at the moment that we believe they will record a victory in this clash. However, the odds on a home win offer little value. Instead, we are looking at the goals market. We believe this could be a low-scoring encounter, so are backing under 2.5. The other bet we recommend is City midfielder Phil Foden to be an anytime goalscorer. The youngster played as a false number nine against Liverpool and scored. We fancy him to get himself on the scoresheet once again in this clash.

Verdict: We are backing Phil Foden to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 6/4 and/or under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 13/10. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
