Prediction and odds for the game: Tottenham (17/4) vs Liverpool (8/15)

We are backing Liverpool half-time/full-time at odds of 11/10

When: Sunday 19 December 2021, Kick-off 16:30

Where: The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

On Sunday, Tottenham host Liverpool at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, as the visitors look to make up ground on leaders Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.

Tottenham

Antonio Conte’s team have had a break of two weeks since their last Premier League outing due to Covid-19. Several players are still ruled out of action for this clash due to testing positive, including Heung-Min Son and Oliver Skipp.

How Spurs will play after a two-week break is unclear. However, before their enforced break, Antonio Conte’s team were on a three-game winning streak in the English top-flight. The team from north London had also scored at least two goals in all three recent wins, while also keeping clean sheets in three of their last four league outings.

The positive recent run of form has put Tottenham right in the hunt for the Champions League spots. They are just four points behind north London foes Arsenal, who occupy the final Champions League spot for next season. However, the Gunners have played three more league matches than their local rivals.

Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp’s team has been relentless in the Premier League of late, having recorded seven straight wins in the English top-flight. Last time out, the team from Merseyside recorded a relatively comfortable 3-1 win over Newcastle at Anfield.

The visitors have been prolific in front of goal in recent months, scoring at least two goals in 12 of their last 14 matches in the English top-flight. Liverpool have also been strong defensively of late, having kept clean sheets in four of their previous six matches in the Premier League.

The Reds recent form has kept them in touch with league leaders and reigning champions Manchester City, who are just a point ahead of the visitors in the Premier League table. The visitors know they must keep winning to ensure they have a chance of catching their north west rivals at the top of the table.

Liverpool have been tough to beat on their travels of late in the Premier League, losing once in their previous 15 away matches. The men from Merseyside have won 13 away games in that stellar run of form.

A key factor in the visitor’s good recent away form in the Premier League has been their attacking prowess, as the Reds have scored at least two goals in ten of their last 11 league matches on their travels.

Conclusion

This game could be a hard one to call, as both teams have players missing due to Covid-19. It is difficult to see this game producing anything but an away win considering the circumstances. However, the home offers very little value.

Instead, we are backing the visitors to be winning at both half-time and full-time. The other recommendation we are backing is for Diogo Jota to be an anytime goalscorer, as the Portuguese forward has been in decent form in recent weeks.

Our Tips: We are backing Liverpool Half-time/full-time at odds of 11/10 and/or Diogo Jota to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 7/5. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
