Prediction and odds for the game: Everton (9/1) vs Manchester City (2/7)

We are backing the draw/Manchester City at odds of 7/2

When: Saturday 26 February 2022, Kick-off 17:30

Where: Goodison Park

On Saturday evening, Everton and Manchester City clash on Goodison Park, in what could be a massive game at both ends of the Premier League table.

Everton

Despite the arrival of Frank Lampard as head coach on deadline day, the Toffees are in major danger of suffering relegation this season. The team Merseyside are now just two points clear of the relegation zone.

Since Lampard’s appointment, Everton have won their two home games but suffered defeats in both away matches. A big feature in their two home games under former Chelsea boss is that they have scored at least three goals in each win. That will be a difficult feat to achieve against the best defence in the Premier League.

The Toffees recent league form has been woeful, as the home side has now won just one of their last eight games in the English top-flight, suffering six defeats in the process.

Everton have also won just two of their last eight league matches at Goodison Park, which in the past has been a difficult ground to visit for opposition teams.

Manchester City

The Citizens looked set to run away with the Premier League title. However, Pep Guardiola’s team are now just three points clear of second-place Liverpool, who also now have a superior goal difference to the reigning English champions.

A surprise 3-2 home defeat by Tottenham last time out has now put major pressure on the men from Manchester in the title race. The defeat against Spurs ended a four-game winning run for the visitors in all competitions.

The game at least saw City continue their prolific record in front of goal, as they have now scored at least two goals in their last five outings in all competitions, that includes their last three outings in the English top-flight.

City have a formidable recent away record in the Premier League, as they are unbeaten in 12 league matches on their travels, having recorded ten wins in the process.

Unsurprisingly, City have been prolific in front of goal away from home of late in the English top-flight, scoring at least two goals in eight of their last ten away games in the Premier League.

The Citizens have enjoyed their recent trips to Goodison Park, winning on their last five visits to the famous old ground.

Conclusion

It is hard to predict anything other than a Manchester City win in this clash. As usual, though, the City win doesn’t offer great odds.

Instead, we are backing a slight outside bet of draw/Manchester City, as Everton will be keen to make up for an abject performance in the 2-0 defeat at Southampton. However, they are unlikely to have enough quality to hold City for a whole game.

The other bet we recommend is for Riyad Mahrez to be anytime goalscorer. The Algerian international will be well-rested after only making a substitute appearance against Spurs. He also has a habit of scoring against Everton.

Our Tips: Riyad Mahrez to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 7/2 and/or Riyad Mahrez to be an anytime goalscorer at odds of 10/11. (All odds are taken from Bet365)
