Prediction and odds for the game: Manchester United (1/2) vs Leicester (21/4)

We are backing the home win at odds of 1/2

When: Saturday 2 April 2022, Kick-off 17:30

Where: Old Trafford

On Saturday evening, Manchester United will attempt to boost their Champions League chances for next season, as the Red Devils welcome Leicester to Old Trafford in the Premier League.

Manchester United

Things have not been going well for Manchester United of late. A 1-0 home defeat by Atletico Madrid in the Champions League last-16 second leg saw the Red Devils dumped out of Europe’s elite competition. The result also means that Ralf Rangnick’s team has now won just once in their last five games in all competitions.

However, when it comes to the Premier League, United have been a difficult team to beat, as they have suffered just one defeat in their last ten matches in the English top flight. A record of five wins in their last 11 league outings is not the sort of form that earns a team a place in the Champions League.

United are currently four points adrift of fourth-place Arsenal, having played an extra game than the Gunners this season. The men from Manchester need to put a winning run together and hope Mikel Arteta’s team slips up.

Leicester

The Foxes are experiencing a poor campaign by their standards in recent seasons. Brendan Rodgers’ team are in tenth place in the table, a massive 14 points behind the home side, who currently occupy sixth place.

The visitors do have games in hand on the teams above them. However, it seems that the best the team from the Midlands can achieve this season is a top-half finish, which would be a poor result after such lofty finishes in recent Premier League campaigns.

Leicester’s recent league form has been not been terrible, as the Foxes go into this game on the back of three wins in their last four league outings. In their last league outing, the visitors recorded a 2-1 win over Brentford at the King Power Stadium.

One major negative for Leicester of late in the Premier League has been their away record, as they have suffered defeat in five of their last six away games. The Foxes have also conceded at least two goals in six of their last seven league games on their travels. Their defensive record away from home may be a major surprise considering only six teams have conceded more goals than Leicester in the English top-flight this season.

Conclusion

Manchester United are unbeaten in five home games in the Premier League, while Leicester’s recent away record is poor. We are backing Rangnick’s team to record a victory, although it may not be a massive win. The other bet we are backing is for over 2.5 goals scored, as Leicester’s defence is leaky, while United are not exactly watertight at the back themselves.

Our Tips: We are backing the home win at odds of 1/2 and/or over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 4/7. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
