Prediction and odds for the game: Arsenal (9/20) vs Leeds (6/1)

We are backing Arsenal half-time/full-time at odds of 5/4

When: Sunday 8 May 2022, Kick-off 15:00

Where: The Emirates Stadium

On Sunday afternoon, Arsenal hosts Leeds at the Emirates Stadium, in a crucial Premier league for both teams.

Arsenal

The Gunners are in a promising position to claim a Champions League spot for next season with just four Premier League games remaining. Mikel Arteta’s team are in fourth place in the table, just points clear of fifth-place rivals Tottenham. However, recent results have also moved the team from north London to within three points of third-place Chelsea.

After a slight wobble in form in April, Arsenal has regained their form of late by recording three straight league wins against Chelsea, Manchester United and last time out West Ham. The Gunners have also rediscovered their scoring boots, having scored at least twice in all three of those recent league matches.

Arsenal’s home form has been mixed of late in the Premier League, as they followed up back-to-back home league defeats by Liverpool and Brighton by recording a 3-1 win over Manchester United in their last league outing at the Emirates Stadium.

Leeds United

Jesse Marsch’s team are now deep in the relegation battle after last weekend’s result conspired to leave the Whites just two points above the relegation zone. A 4-0 home defeat by league leaders and champions Manchester City combined with an Everton 1-0 home win over Chelsea has dragged the Yorkshire outfit into the fight for survival.

Despite their now perilous position in the Premier League table, the defeat against City ended a five-game unbeaten run for Leeds. The promising run looked to have been enough to take them clear of the mire. However, bookmakers now have Leeds as shorter odds to suffer relegation than rivals Burnley and Everton.

One positive for Marsch and his team going into this clash is their recent away record. The team from Yorkshire are unbeaten in three league games on their travels in the Premier League, having recorded two wins and a draw. They have also kept back-to-back clean sheets away from home in the English top-flight.

However, the Whites’ have suffered defeat on their last four visits to Arsenal in all competitions. Another defeat in north London could prove to be fatal to their bid for Premier League survival.

Conclusion

Arsenal are in great form heading into this clash, but Leeds’ form was not bad before the home hammering by City. We do believe that Arsenal will emerge from this encounter with maximum points.

The bet we are backing is Arsenal half-time/full-time, which offers slightly more value than the simple home win. We are also taking a punt on under 2.5 goals scored, as the visitors have improved defensively of late and may put in a solid defensive display.

Our Tips: We are backing Arsenal half-time/full-time at odds of 5/4 and/or under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 13/10. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
