Prediction and odds for the game: Leicester (23/10) vs Manchester United (11/10)

We are backing the away win

When: Thursday 1 September 2022, Kick-off 20:00

Where: The King Power Stadium

On Thursday night, Leicester City host Manchester United at the King Power Stadium as the home team looks for their first Premier League win of the season.

Leicester City

The Foxes have endured a nightmare start to the new Premier League campaign. Brendan Rodgers’ team has picked up just one point from their opening four league matches of the season.

A 2-1 defeat at Chelsea last time out was their third straight defeat in the English top-flight. The result also means that the men from the Midlands have won just one of their previous six matches in the Premier League.

One of the main reasons for Leicester’s recent disappointing results has been poor defensive displays. The Foxes have conceded at least two goals in all four of their league games this season.

Leicester are still likely to be without Ryan Bertrand and Ricardo Pereira through injury, while star attacking midfielder James Maddison is also an injury doubt.

Manchester United

After a poor start to the new Premier League campaign, the Red Devils have now recorded two straight victories over Liverpool and Southampton. The 1-0 win over the Saints last time out means that the visitors have won just three of their last ten matches in the English top-flight.

United’s recent league games have been high-scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in five of their last seven matches in the Premier League.

Manchester United have a poor recent away record in the English top-flight. In fact, the win at Southampton ended a seven-game losing streak for the Red Devils on their travels. The game also saw United score just their second goal in seven away matches in the Premier League. At the other end of the pitch, United kept their first clean sheet in 13 away matches in the English top-flight.

Manchester United are without Victor Lindelof and Facundo Pellestri due to injury, while Brendan Williams and Anthony Martial are also fitness doubts. New signing Antony has yet to receive a visa, so he will miss out. His compatriot Casemiro could make his full debut in midfield, while Harry Maguire and Cristiano Ronaldo could return to the starting eleven.

Conclusion

Leicester have been woeful at times this season. The Foxes also recently experienced the blow of losing star centre-back Wesley Fofana to Chelsea. It is hard to see Rodgers’ team lifting themselves to win this game.

United have improved of late, and that is why we are backing them to record a victory in this clash. The other bet we are backing is over 2.5 goals scored, as neither team is exactly convincing in defence, which should make for a high-scoring encounter.

Our Tips: We are backing the away win at odds of 11/10 and/or over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 4/6. (All odds are taken from Bet365)
