Prediction and odds for the game: Manchester United (31/20) vs Arsenal (13/8)

We are backing the draw at odds of 5/2

When: Sunday 4 September 2022, Kick-off 16:30

Where: Old Trafford

On Sunday afternoon, Manchester United hosts Arsenal at Old Trafford, as both teams look to build on good recent runs in the Premier League.

Manchester United

The Red Devils have recovered from a poor start to the new Premier League campaign by recording three straight victories in the English top-flight. A 1-0 win at Leicester last time out was their second straight win by the scoreline, as they had previously beaten Southampton by the same result.

The three straight victories have moved the men from Manchester up to fifth place in the early season table. Another win would signify that the players are adapting to Erik ten Hag’s football philosophy and style.

United have made Old Trafford a hard place to visit again, as the Red Devils have lost just once in their last 11 home games in the league.

Anthony Martial will miss out through injury, along with Facundo Pellestri and likely Brandon Williams. Victor Lindelof, Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan Bissaka are also fitness doubts for the Red Devils. New signing Antony lacks match fitness, so he is unlikely to start.

Arsenal

Mikel Arteta’s team has made an excellent start to the Premier League campaign. The Gunners currently sit top of the table after recording five straight wins at the beginning of the campaign.

The team from north London has also won ten of their last 12 matches in the Premier League dating back to last season. The key to Arsenal’s recent stellar form has been their attacking prowess, as the Gunners have scored at least two goals in each of those ten league wins.

Brazilian pair Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli have been amongst the goals this season, scoring three top-flight goals each.

Arsenal has a mixed recent away record in the Premier League, winning four and losing two of their last six league games on their travels. Their recent away matches have been high-scoring affairs, though, with over 2.5 goals scored in five of their previous six matches.

Arsenal look set to be without Thomas Partey, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Reiss Nelson and Mohamed Elneny through injury. Aaron Ramsdale and Martin Odegaard are fitness doubts but should both feature.

Conclusion

Manchester United have certainly shown some progress in recent results when it comes to results anyway. Arsenal are one of the most in-form teams in Europe, but this game could be harder to win now than a few weeks ago. We are sitting on the fence and backing the draw. We also think this could be a tight encounter, too, so we are also backing under 2.5 goals scored.

Our Tips: We are backing the draw at odds of 5/2 and/or under 2.5 goals scored at odds of 6/5. (All odds are taken from Bet365)
