Prediction and odds for the game:  Valencia (4/1) vs Barcelona (4/7)

We are backing the away win

When: Saturday 29th October 2022, Kick-off 20:00

Where: The Mestalla

On Saturday night, Valencia hosts Barcelona at the Mestalla in what could be one of the games of the weekend in La Liga.

Valencia

Los Che are experiencing something of an inconsistent campaign in the Spanish top flight, as Jose Bordalas’ team has taken just 15 points from their opening 11 league matches of the season. A surprise 2-1 home defeat by Mallorca last time out ended a five-game unbeaten run for Valencia in La Liga. However, the result means that they have also won just one of their previous five games in the Spanish top flight.

Los Che’s recent league games have been high-scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in seven of their previous eight matches. Both teams have also scored in seven of those last eight league matches.

Valencia’s recent home record in La Liga has been inconsistent, as they have won just two of their previous five matches on home soil in the Spanish top flight. Their last four home matches have produced over 2.5 goals.

Barcelona

The Catalan giants exited the Champions League in midweek, as Xavi’s team suffered a 3-0 home defeat by Bayern Munich. Their European form has been in stark contrast to their domestic form, as the Blaugrana has won eight of their previous nine matches in La Liga. Their good form has still not been good enough for Xavi’s team to top the table, as they trail arch-rivals and champions Real Madrid by three points.

The visitors have been good at both ends of the pitch this season. In fact, Barcelona has scored at least two goals in eight of their last ten league matches. At the other end of the field, Barcelona has managed to keep eight clean sheets in nine league outings. They have the best defensive record in La Liga and the joint-best goalscoring record alongside Real Madrid.

Conclusion

Valencia have struggled for any sort of consistency of late in La Liga. Despite their European woes, the Blaugrana have thrived in the Spanish top flight and have been deadly in front of goal while being solid in defence. We are backing the away win.

The other bet we are backing is over 2.5 goals scored, as Valencia’s recent games have been high-scoring. Obviously, Barcelona are a major attacking threat, with the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Ousmane Dembele and Raphinha.

Our Tips: We are backing the away win at odds of 4/7 and/or over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 8/13. (All odds are taken from Bet365)
