CONMEBOL Libertadores

The CONMEBOL Libertadores soccer tournament is one that is played in South America and the organising body, as you may have already guessed from its name is CONMEBOL.

Now you may not be familiar with soccer teams or tournaments played in South America, however one thing to keep in mind is that this is a major one, and it has been going strong since the day it was founded which was in the year 1960.

What makes it something of an unusual soccer tournament is that it is made up of 47 soccer teams and they all haul form ten different associations, and it is used as the qualifier for both the Recopa Sudamericana and the FIFA Club World Cup.

It is also very closely associated with the Copa Sudamericana and it is not unheard of for title winners of this tournament to go onto win that one too. The current champions are Brazil Grêmio who at the time of compiling this guide have won the title on three separate occasions.

However, by far and away the very best team to have won this tournament the most times to date is Argentina Independiente and they have so far won it a total of seven times and will probably do so again before very long!

As is always the case, should you be interested in learning more about this tournament or even buy tickets to any of the up and coming matches or to find a full and very definitive schedule of all of those up and coming matches you will be best advised to visit the official CONMEBOL Libertadores website for more details.
