Prediction and odds for the game: Bayer Leverkusen (1/2) vs Celtic (5/1)

We are backing the home win

When: Thursday 25 November 2021, Kick-off 17:45

Where: The BayArena

On Thursday evening, Bayer Leverkusen could seal their place in the knockout stages of the Europa League, as the German outfit welcome in-form Celtic to the BayArena.

Bayer Leverkusen

After a slight wobble in form in October, Bayer Leverkusen look to now be back on track. Gerardo Seoane’s team recorded a 1-0 win over struggling Bochum at the weekend, which made the home team three games unbeaten in all competitions.

When it comes to the Europa League, Bayer are in charge of Group G, as they are top of the group having taken ten points from a possible 12 in their campaign so far. A draw here would be enough to guarantee a place in the knockout stages of the competition.

Despite the absence of star striker Patrik Schick in recent weeks, Leverkusen have been prolific in their European campaign so far this season, scoring at least two goals in three of their four matches in Group G.

Bayer Leverkusen have been formidable opponents at the BayArena in the Europa League of late, as they have claimed wins in seven of their last eight matches on home soil in the competition.

Celtic

The Hoops look to have recovered from their early-season underwhelming form. Ange Postecoglou’s team are now undefeated in their last nine competitive games, picking up eight wins and a draw. The visitors have also found their shooting boots in that undefeated run, scoring at least two goals in seven of their nine unbeaten matches.

Their recent stellar run of form in the Europa League has kept alive their hopes of making the knockout stages of the competition. The Hoops lost their opening two matches in the Europa League. They suffered a 4-3 defeat at Real Betis before suffering a 4-0 home hammering against Thursday night’s opponents.

However, two straight wins over Hungarian team Ferencvaros has moved the Scottish giants to within a point of Real Betis, who currently occupy second place in the group standings. With the Spanish facing group whipping boys Ferencvaros in the other game, anything other than a win in this clash could mean an exit from the Europa League and the Hoops dropping down into the Europa Conference League in the new year.

Celtic’s recent away record in the Europa League doesn’t exactly scream away win in this fixture, as they have lost two of their previous three outings in the competition on their travels.

Conclusion

We are backing the home win, despite Celtic’s recent revival. Bayer Leverkusen have shown signs of late of returning to form and the BayArena is a difficult place for visiting teams to visit. The other bet we recommend is over 2.5 goals scored, as both teams recent Europa League matches have produced lots of goals.

Our Tips: We are backing the home win at odds of 1/2 and/or over 2.5 goals scored at odds of 8/15. (All odds are taken from Bet365).
