Scouts from Man United and Newcastle United were watching young Slovenian forward Benjamin Sesko, 19, as he played and scored for Red Bull Salzburg last weekend.

According to 90min football, the highly-rated teenager is due to join fellow Red Bull outfit RB Leipzig on 1 July for a fee around $26.5m, but this has not put off the Premier League rivals both continue to monitor the Slovenian’s progress after his fourteenth league goal in 25 appearances and his eighth goal in his last seven matches helped Salzburg to a 2-0 win over title rivals Sturm Graz.

RB Salzburg has an excellent reputation around Europe for bringing through young strikers who have then moved on to bigger clubs with previous examples including Sadio Mane, Takumi Minamino, and Erling Haaland.

Manchester United has been heavily linked with a summer move for a center forward, with Harry Kane and Victor Oshimen both thought to be lined up.

Newcastle United on the other hand will probably need to let their current number nine Callum Wilson leave the club if Eddie Howe is going to make him part of his immediate plans at the Magpies, with Swede Alexander Isak continuing to impress, scoring two goals in a 6-1 thrashing of Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
