Barcelona will make a move to sign Morrocan defensive midfielder Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina this season.
The 26-year-old starred at the World Cup for a Morrocan team that shocked everyone by reaching the Semi-Final stage, with Amrabat’s dazzling performances being a key reason for his country’s success.
And according to the Spanish newspaper AS, Amrabat is seen as the ideal long-term replacement for club captain and legend Sergio Busquets who will decide his future this month with the 34-year-old’s contract coming to an end on 30 June.
Sofyan Amrabat set for move to the Catalan giants this summer
Amrabat was rumored to be joining the La Liga champions-elect in January but Fiorentina put a stop to the deal with La Viola keen to keep hold one of their key players during their run in the Europa Conference League where they have reached the Semi Final stage, taking on Basel next Thursday in Florence in the first leg.
Barcelona are more confident of being able to push through a deal in the summer however, with Amrabat’s contract at Fiorentina only running until 2024.
