Man City manager Pep Guardiola has publicly admitted he wants in-form midfielder Ilkay Gundogan to stay at the club amid speculation he will leave at the end of the season.

Gundogan has been in imperious form recently, scoring two goals in City’s comfortable 3-0 win at Everton yesterday which take the Blues to just one win away from their third consecutive Premier League title.

Ilkay Gundogan to stay at the Etihad Stadium?

It has been well reported that Barcelona have offered the German international a two-year contract when his current deal at City ends on 30 June, with the Citizens only offering the 32-year-old a one-year deal in accordance with the club’s policy on aging players. But according to The Athletic’s Sam Lee, Guardiola said on his skipper’s future “Nobody knows what is going to happen, maybe he stays. Hopefully.”

The German has been at City since 2016, becoming Pep Guardiola’s first signing as manager of the Blues, and during his time at the Etihad has already won four Premier League titles, four League Cup titles, and one FA Cup.
