Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka could be leaving the Emirates Stadium for good this summer with German club Bayer Leverkusen heavily linked.

The Swiss international has been a revelation for the Gunners this season playing in a more attacking role for Mikel Arteta’s men, providing five goals and seven Premier League assists. At 30, however, Xhaka will know that he will likely only be offered one more major contract in his playing career, and German side Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly interested in the midfielder according to British radio station talkSPORT.

Swiss international Granit Xhaka rumored with Arsenal exit

This season has seen an upturn in Xhaka’s form and discipline, with the former captain being shown a red card an incredible five times in his Gunners’ career since arriving from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2016. The one-time rash midfielder has responded well to his manager’s instructions this term though, helping lead a young side by example to second place in the Premier League.

Despite this, with only one year on his contract, Arsenal are set to cash in on their long-serving midfielder with Bayer Leverkusen head coach Xabi Alonso, a long-time fan of Xhaka’s, keen on convincing the experienced player on returning to the Bundesliga.
