Newcastle United are already making summer plans, as Eddie Howe looks to add quality to his squad in preparation for a potential return to the Champions League. The Magpies have earmarked a move for RB Leipzig’s Dominik Szoboszlai, according to Sky Sports Germany.
Newcastle are long-term admirers of the winger, and they could be set to step up their interest in the summer and match the $70 million release clause.
Newcastle step up transfer interest in Szoboszlai
Reports have indicated that Newcastle have stepped up their interest in Szoboszlai, but a formal approach to the Bundesliga side is yet to be made. The 22-year-old is among a number of options being monitored by the Magpies ahead of the start of the summer transfer window.
Szoboszlai has enjoyed another fine season with Leipzig this term, as he has scored five goals and registered eight assists in 29 Bundesliga appearances. The 22-year-old looks on course to beat his best scoring season with the German side.
The winger has also been a key part of the Hungary side in recent years, as he has represented his country on 30 occasions. To date, he has scored seven times, which includes a winner against England in the Nations League.
