Aston Villa look set for a huge summer transfer window, and they are reportedly at the front of the queue to sign Leicester City ace Harvey Barnes.

The Foxes will look to cash in on one of their prized assets if they are relegated to the Championship this weekend, and Villa are reportedly ahead of Newcastle and West Ham to sign the winger.

Aston Villa top transfer suitors for Barnes

According to the latest reports in The Independent, Villa have moved ahead of Newcastle in the race to sign the winger. That is down to the fact that they can offer the strongest package, which includes a guaranteed starting berth.

As well as that, Barnes is keen to remain located in the Midlands. The 25-year-old burst onto the scene during a short loan spell with West Bromwich Albion, as he scored nine goals in 26 matches.

However, his loan spell at the Hawthorns was cut short, as he was recalled by Leicester in January 2019. Barnes immediately impressed following his return to the King Power, and was rewarded with a new five-year deal in June 2019.

The winger has played 186 times for the Foxes, scoring 44 times. He was also a prominent part of the team that won the FA Cup in 2021, and the Community Shield in the same year.
