Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante will leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the month and move to Saudi Arabian side Al Ittihad on a free transfer.

The future of the 32-year-old has been the topic of much speculation in recent weeks after talks broke down with Chelsea regarding an extension to Kante’s contract. The Frenchman is initially thought to have preferred staying in West London. Still, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Kante has now completed his medical with the Saudi Arabian club and put pen to paper on a two-year deal with an option for a further season afterward.

Kante was reportedly blown away by Al Ittihad’s proposal, who beat Saudi rivals Al Nassr to the experienced defensive midfielder’s signature in part to the former’s participation in the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup.

The Frenchman will join his former international teammate Karim Benzema in Jeddah and will earn a figure of around $107m per season.
