Newcastle United have stepped up their summer plans, and have reportedly made an approach for Barcelona’s former Premier League star Raphinha.
The winger joined Xavi’s Spanish giants last summer, but he has found game time hard to come by throughout the season. However, it is believed that he is still regarded as an important part of the plans at Barcelona.
Newcastle step up Raphinha interest
According to reports in Spain from SPORT, the Magpies have stepped up their interest in the Brazilian, and have reportedly opened up conversations about a potential move.
Barcelona will look to offload a number of players this summer, as they will need to sell before they are able to add to their La Liga-winning squad. The Spanish giants will look to move on unwanted squad players.
Raphinha reportedly wishes to stay at the Nou Camp, but the Brazilian international could be tempted to return to the Premier League following Newcastle’s qualification to the Champions League.
The 26-year-old is regarded as a cult hero at Elland Road after scoring 17 goals in two seasons with Leeds United. Since moving to Barcelona, he has scored ten goals in 50 appearances across all competitions.
