Chelsea are close to agreeing a deal to sign one of last season’s breakout stars in the Premier League Moises Caicedo from Brighton.
The 21-year-old moved to England from Independiente del Valle in February 2021. Still, the Ecuadorean didn’t establish himself as a first-team regular until last season, becoming an essential part of Roberto De Zerbi’s team.

Italian De Zerbi all but confirmed that Caicedo would be leaving the Amex Stadium following Brighton’s final match of the season against Aston Villa. And according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the Blues are likely to negotiate down the whopping $100m price tag for the defensive midfielder as they look to replace the departing midfield duo N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic.

Caicedo was due to leave last January for Arsenal, who remain keen suitors, but the Gunners had their move blocked. Personal terms are now close to being agreed between Chelsea and Caicedo, who only signed a new contract until 2027 at Brighton in March.
