The future of Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey is in doubt today as Mikel Arteta looks to lower the age profile of his side’s engine room.

Arsenal are in the hunt for both Declan Rice and Romeo Lavia and are confident that they can get deals done for both targets, along with defender Jurrien Timber and forward Kai Havertz in what is looking like an expensive summer for the Gunners.

Thomas Partey could be fall-guy for new midfield

And with Granit Xhaka’s transfer to Bayer Leverkusen set to be confirmed imminently, Arsenal have also given Ghanian international Thomas Partey permission to speak to other clubs according to 90min reporters Jamie Spencer and Graeme Bailey.

Partey only joined the North Londoners less than three years ago from Atletico Madrid for $55m but is now believed to be on the wrong side of 30 for gaffer Arteta, who is willing for his former defensive midfield stalwart to speak to an unnamed Saudi Arabian club regarding a move this summer.
