Chelsea have agreed to sell Kalidou Koulibaly for a fee close to $27m to Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal this summer.

The 32-year-old struggled to adapt to the pace of the Premier League last season and is set to join Ruben Neves at the Riyadh-based club on a three-year deal according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Kalidou Koulibaly edges closer to Stamford Bridge

The experienced defender only moved to Stamford Bridge last summer for $40m from Italian side Napoli, where he had previously enjoyed a successful eight-year spell. However, Todd Boehly is set to cut his losses on the Senegalese International after less than 12 months.

Despite his poor club form, Koulibaly was back to being close to his best for the national team, captaining Senegal to a shock 4-2 victory over Brazil yesterday in an international friendly played at Sporting Lisbon’s Jose Alvalade Stadium in which Bayern Munich forward Sadio Mane scored twice.
