USMNT international defender Reggie Cannon has become a free agent after terminating his contract with Portuguese top-flight team Boavista.

The 25-year-old Chicago native has enjoyed a successful time with the Porto-based outfit, establishing himself as the first-choice right-back during his three years at the club.

Reggie Cannon rips up his own contract

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Cannon has terminated his own contract with The Chequered Ones following allegations he has not been paid his wages by the club for a significant amount of time.

Many European clubs have been put on red alert now the former FC Dallas defender is available on a free transfer and are currently monitoring the situation.

Cannon moved to Europe in 2020 following a $3.5m transfer from the MLS side to Boavista and has currently made an impressive 28 appearances for the USMNT since his debut five years ago but was not selected in Gregg Berhalter’s 2022 FIFA World Cup squad.
